Priority 1: Improving English Language Arts Proficiency
We will work to improve all students’ proficiency in ELA.
Captain Isaac Paine will work to increase students’ overall literacy proficiency through rigorous goalsetting. Captain Isaac Paine will support staff through professional development opportunities and evidence based curriculum resources.
Measurable Goals
Goal #1 - Students will increase proficiency in the subject area of reading and writing according to the Rhode Island CCSS with the goal of an increase in RICAS ELA scores by 5% among all students, by spring 2026.

Captain Isaac Paine will implement a new K-5 ELA screener, Acadience, known for its’ focus on early ELA foundational skills. Acadience was chosen because of its ability to carefully monitor the developing and transitional literacy skills through the later fluency and advanced skills stages, which ultimately lead to advancement and achievement in ELA for students.
